the Hub Sq

A closer look – Product Information

Description

The Hub Sq is a precise ride height measuring tool which provides for a fixed reference point of measurement – from the wheel hub.

This point of reference is important because it geometrically agnostic to any factors relating to the wheel itself.

A vehicles hub center is exploited to eliminate innacurate measurements due to:

  • Unfixed reference point of measurement
  • Tire air pressure – which is no longer a factor
  • Tire wear
  • Tire size
  • Uneven ground

Versatile

25 individual components to adapt to most 5 bolt applications

Adjustable Mounting

Confuguarable mounting depth to offset from wheel

Ball Bearing Design

A smooth pivoting reference point for measurement

Rotating Sockets

Independent rotation from tool body, to allow mounting from any position

Durable

Made with quality plastics, impact resistant acrylic, 18.8 grade steel fasteners and EVA foam

Easy Identification

Clearly marked pitch circle diamater (PCD) for hassle free setup

Usage and Assembly Instructions

Note: Most models come preassambled

Assembly time: <5 min

Tools required: Measuring tape for usage

Overview: A quick visual aid

Step 1

What is the bolt pattern, and lug nut size of your vehicle? Select 3 of the appropriately sized hex socket attachments,

Step 2

After selecting 3 of the appropriately sized hex socket attachments, slide the 45 mm bolt through the open face of the socket so the bolt head securely fits into the recessed cavity at back of the socket.

Note: Dont worry if you dont get it in all the way, when you later secure the knob it will seat itself.

Step 3

For the first time, it is recommended to use all provided spacers. Slide the assembly through the appropriately labeled holes from the back of the tool.

Step 4

Fasten on the provided knurled knobs to secure the assembly.

Note: Do not over tighten, the assembly is very rigid, and does not require torquing once the bolt head has cleared the back of the socket.

Step 5

Select 3 lug nuts which provide the clearest vertical path to the fender (Green). Try not to use the upper most point which may obstruct your tape measure (Red).

Step 6

Back the knob off ½ a turn to allow easy rotation of the socket, this will help make mounting easier.

Ensure each of the 3 points is securely seated to its maximum depth and then lightly tighten each knob.

Concept

A wheel hub assembly is an extension of the vehicles suspension. So rather than measuring ride height with reference to the ground, we can measure suspension in reference to the body.

Each lug nut is equidistant from its axis of rotation, and also from one another, which together form the wheels Pitch Circle Diameter (“PCD”) (eg. 100/112/114.3/115/120 mm).

With the help of good old fashioned trigonometry, we exploit 3 points on the PCD to find this center. This provides a sound foundation to accurately and reliably measure to a cars body.

Our 5 bolt pattern tool attaches to 3 of the 5 hexagonal lug nuts (or lug bolts). Its Important to note, the orientation of the nuts is compensated for by the individual rotating socket attachements of the hub sq.
